"You have heard...But I tell you..."

This is my time in the Occupied West Bank this summer. It's my medium of processing and recording what I am witnessing and observing. I am realizing that there is a lot that I have heard and been taught which does not line up with the reality I am experiencing. My internet access is sporadic at best, but I'll try be faithful and pray you will be too. If you have any comments, questions or want to hear more email me at juliainpalestine@gmail.com I'd love to hear from you!

Shatha is a dear friend from a Peace Camp in Egypt I attended when I was a junior in high school. 5 years later we were able to reunite! I got a chance to see her beautiful home (her dad had to leave and find work in America for 10 years so they could build a home because of the economy) and her wonderful family. We were stuffed full of amazing sweets and fantastic food and given an intimate view of their life and home. It really blessed me because after pointing out their family land where Israeli settlement houses now stand, describing the difficulties of raising children with out their father, visiting their old home where a Jewish woman now lives, Shatha’s mom told us “But I still have hope.” That was powerful.
